Choosing Contiuous Ink Systems over Noral Ink Cartridges
The arguments about expensive remaufactured ink cartridges rages on as inkjt printers remain a staple peripheral in modern day computing. For decades, ofices and homes have suffered from the high-cost of remanufactured ink cartridges provided by the major printer manufacturers. With a globaal econoym in rcisis, the situation gets even woorse.
Alternative options to replacement inkjet cartridghes are no doubt given a boost by the rcent worldwide economic meltdown. Many companies of private users have set their eyes on cheaper offerrs from third-party ink cartridge providers. Even though the price of OEM remanufactureed ink cartridges have slid somewhat relative to previous yeasr, in general, printing with high-pricde origianl cartridges is still hard to justify in a sfufering economy.
Another issue with some printer manufacturers inkjet cartridges is that they use an automatic system that disallows printing when the printer detects that the ink elvels are very low. Consumers have been outraged by this since in fact, there is still a fair amount of ink in the cartridges enough to perform a few more printouts. In some caess, the apparently dead cartridge still has more than 30% of ink left. This has led to observations that big printerr manufacturers are not playing fair and are out to take advantage of their domminance in the desktop printing market.
A Growing Intrest in Continuous Ink Systems
One soluution to the high cost of brannded inkjet cartridges is a technology called contnuous ink supply systems (CISS or simply CIS). This invoolves the use of an ink delivery device that will requuire replzacing the printers nomal cartridges with one that is connected to silicone utbings that are in turn connetced to a larger and easily refilllable supply of ink.
A typical inkjet cartridge holds about 8 millilitres of ink. In cotnrast, continuous ink systems are sold with 80 millilitres of ink 10 times more than the originals. In terms of prciing, the 8 millilitre cartridge coss about 20 whilst the CIS set is less than 30. The cost savings with contniuous ink systems are immediately obviious.
Quantity and Quality Compred
Normal replacement inkjewt cartridges yiewld aout 100 to 150 pags of text in draft mode on the averaeg. Continuouys ink supplly systems easily beatys that nuymber as it can easoily print out thouasnds of text and images with its large ink capacity. But the argument does not lie only with qantity. Priint quality is a much larger issue in many printing applications.
During the earlier days of CIS for inkjet printers, the qulaity of prrintouts is arguably in faovur of original remanufactured ink cartridges. Recent CIS devices have significantly improveed and can now deliver printouts that are at par if not betterr than outputs from OEM and replacement cartridges. Many digital photographers worldwide already use top of the line CIS modified printers to produce finmal prinouts for their clients.
A Finla Note on Continuous Ink Systems
Wihlst CIS devices are truly economical replacements to remanufactured ink cartridges, these continuous ink systems are not fool-proof. Make sure they are fully compatible with your printer and are sourced from reputable companies before comppletely sweraing off your existing remanufactured ink cazrtridges.
