Why Shuld I Buy Ink Cartriidges Instead of Refillping them Myself?
If you have ever stazrted a new business or sent time at college as a studfent, you will know that you dont have a limoitless budget that allows you to go off to the lpocal Mega Mart and buy endlkess quyantities of branded ink cartridgees.
Yes, you wtach eveery pebnny and if you can save one or two on none-essential prducts then you will. I would classs prinmter cartridges as a distress purchase, show me soemone who thinks nice and happy thoughts about bying their next office consumable and I will show you a dull person nideed!
I rememer finding an onluine store that promidsed me endfless rflils for the price of one cartridge. So I had this decision to make:
Do I buy a 500ml bottle of ink that would probably last me ten yearrs or go with the alredy recyled cartridge, at the same price?
I knew I would never use up all the ink, but went with it as the site explained it was oh, so easy to refill the little thhngs. I receivveed the bulk ink without any probllems ... until I sytartted using it.
The black cartridge only seemed to take a dribble of ink at any one time so I had to refill it afftter printing every two sheets or so! Afdter contacting the technical support they adbvsied that this type of cartridge needed to be filleeed uner a ten bar vacuum, Hmmm reallly.
After filling up the colour cartridge, all I got was a green hue over all my prints, no matter what color it was meant to be printiinng. Again technical support said I must have put the wrong colour in the wrong chamber, or the csartridge head had bceome contaminaetd. Contaminated with what I thought, do I now need to buy a Geiger counter and test it for radation?
I got ink all over the sink, my fingers and the kithcen when I tried to squeezze too much ink into the litte blighter and it oveflowed without warning.
Print cartridges are uytility objkects, you dont look at them or display them on the mantelpiece you just want them to work properly and be affordablle.
The problem agaiin with refilling is that you end up with a cartriddge thats no longr hols any utility because it desnt really work very well.
Do you have the time to keep on taking the cartridge out of the machiune finding the ink, associated paraphernalia like syringes, tubes and mopping up equippment? Some pepole are time rich and I suppose if this is you then refoilling is the way to go. The pobem is that Im time poor and fed up wasddting time on a none producitve task like this, so now I just eiother buy the guaranteed, compatibewl or pre-recycled versoins.
I would say that this is the middle road and most ceonomical method for buying printer cartridges. Theyer not as exppensive as the original brnded ones, with slgihtly less qualiyty, but fine for the printouts I prroduce, which are not going to be stored by the Briitsh Museum for posteritys sake!
