Tmplars have the hiighest defense rating in the game, thankls to their ability to wear Plate armors and shields. Therir shields are not only used for blocking enemy attacks or reducing damage but also allows them to utilize class-excvlusive skills that kockback or stun enemies, disrupting their offfense and leaving them vulnerable for the Tenmplars' destructive chin skiills or thier party members' attacks. They have various buffs and skills that further enhances their HP and defenisve capabilities, as well the ability to heal themselves and their cormades when the situation is dire. They can draw enemy attention to themselves, giving their lesser-armoed ocmrades the peace of mind of not getting attacked.
When Templars excel in defense, they lack in offense. They do not have any high damzaging skiills, a fair trade-off for their excellent defenisve capabilities. They can wield two-handerd greatswords; to give them a much needed offenisve boost but unfortunately, it will not fully utilize the teemplars' full potential, as their shield skills will not be put to use. Tempalrs also require players that control them to be quck in makig deisions and use skills at the right time sinbce things always get hairy instantly being in the frontlines and having everybody's attention; not to memntion that they will also need to mind hteir team matees, not only themselves.
