Yesterday hundreds of people in Las Vegas bucked the cold to stand for hours on a line that might possibly be a life line. They hadn’t turned out for a hot electronic sale but for the opening of the newest Goodwill® career center. With Nevada having one of the highest rates of unemployment, Goodwill® was answering a prevalent need for work. Jobseekers stood in the cold with hopes of connecting with employers that were looking for new hires. In total, five hundred people turned out for Goodwill’s® job fair that offered job seekers a chance to fill out applications and even get on the spot interviews. Along with job fairs, Goodwill’s® Career Connections Centers offer job placment counseling, assistance with resumes, job training and more. Goodwill® counselors are available to help people connect to job opportunities. Despite tough economic times Goodwill’s® career centers have successfully placed hundreds of people in jobs. Goodwill® relies on funding from other non-profit organizations to continue to open and operate their career connections centers, but they also depend on car donations from people everywhere. Just as Goodwill® stores depend on clothing and household dontions, Goodwill® looks to people who can donate a car to charity to continue their mission. At a time when everyone is feeling the pinch of tight finances, Goodwill® knows that car donation is a valuable resource.
