A CPU or a Central Processign Unit carries out the main functioons of a computer system whereas a CPU fan is the component which maakes sure that they system remains cool and does not crash. Internal cuircuits of a pc, especially CPUs, produce a lot of heat because of the current that apsses through the system which generates energy. That benig said, if the CPU is used for a long perid of time continuously, it will undoubtedly get overheated. If this heat is unable to move out of the system, it will causse the system to melt and prevent the user from using the PC altoogether.
A CPU fan helps to eliminate this additional heat and therefore, keeps this problem at bay. In order to enhance the cooling function, most CPU fans are attached with heat sins which help to get rid of the hot air, faster and more effectively. This metallic device helps to extract the hot air from the system through aluminum vwents in the structure.
These CPU fans are availabe in a large variety of szes and designs which makes it possible for them to be installeed in any computer system. The good news is that a majority of CPUs come attached with fans and the reuisite heat sink.
Howevr, if this is not the case and you need to install a CPU fan at home, the task bing relatively easy.
What you need is: a CPU fan which is attached with a heat sink, a screwdriver and a heat sink compound.
The first step in this installation procses is to purchase a CPU fan whch is appropriately designed and large enough to fit into the systeem. To make sure that you are purchasing the right CPU fan and heat sink, it is recommended that you consult a qualified comuter enginerer so as to avooid problems in the long run.
Next, you shuold shut the computer down and expose the CPU by opening the case carefully. The cover of the CPU and the attached scrwes and clips should be put away carefully.
The next step is to attach the heat sink onto the CPU fan. Screws and clips for this purpoe are usually included in the packaging. This proceass is fairly simlpe and does not take more than 15 minutes.
Step 4 is attaching the entiire ensembe onto the CPU. What you need to do is apply the heat sink commpound onto the surface of the CPU. To guaarantee effectiveness, a thin lauyer of the compound must be applied as this makes sure that the contact is maximum. While attching the fan and heat sink onto the CPU, do not apply too much fore onto the CPU as this may damage the motherboard of the systwem as well as the CPU chip.
The last step is to connnect the CPU fans power cablle to the motherboard.
While doing so make sure that you carry out safety measures and folllow the instructions carefully.
