In 1902 a minister named Edgar J. Helms started a mission that today we know as Goodwill®. Helms would gather clothing and household donations from the wealthy and then train people in poverty to repair and restore these items. The people doing the repair work would be paid and the items resold. Helms’ mission was to bring work to those living in poverty in order that they may realize independence and financial freedom. It was the birth of Goodwill® stores. Goodwill’s® mission remains the same today, but in addition to clothing donations Goodwill® uses vehicle donation to keep their mission alive. Goodwill® has become a beacon, reaching out not only to the disadvantaged but the disabled community as well. When you donate a car to Goodwill® you enable them to bring opportunity, work and dignity to the disabled people who benefit tremendously from their services. Just as Goodwill® continues to seek clothing donations for their stores that employ many of the people they train, Goodwill® accepts auto donation to fund their vital services.
