The closing of RR Donnelley, a catalog print company, was a huge blow to the town and people of Wells, Maine. Donnelley was the town’s largest employer and the affect was tremendous. Hundreds of men and women lost their jobs. For some people, like Karl Lemieux, the work they had done at Donnelley was all they knew. Finding employment after years of steady employment would be overwhelming. Thanks to a grant from Goodwill’s® Workforce Solution these displaced workers are being giving a second chance.
A $2.1 million grant through Goodwill’s® Northern New England’s Workforce Solutions program will help make finding work a possibility for these men and women. This vital grant will provide career services and training for these displaced workers, offering new skills and new career options. For many of these people, without this Goodwill#174; grant the future would be uncertain. Without car donation from people who can donate a car to charity, Goodwill® would be unable to provide the training, employment and career services that they have been providing to both the disabled and disadvantaged community for more than a hundred years. If you are ready to donate a car to charity, Goodwill® is standing by eager to accept your auto donation.
