Alnico magnets can contain a great number of materials like copper, nickel, cobalt, titanium, and aluminum. Alnico being a very hard material is difficult to rework. This alnico is used for manufacturing such items as rods, discs, rings, blocks, horseshoes, cylinders, etc. Alnico magnets have high residual inductions as well as high energies and are usually produced via sintering or casting. Casting involves pouring of molten metal alloy into a mold, then it’s processed through several different heat-treated cycles. And sintering presupposes combining of two materials by means of melting them down. During this process a fine alnico powder is constricted in a press.

Alnico magnets offer a great number of advantages. They are extremely strong and possess an ability of maintaining their magnetic qualities as well as resistance to very high temperatures. Besides, these magnets are affordable, being excellent for different industrial and consumer uses.

In comparison with other types of magnets ceramic ferrite magnets are the most popular ones due to a number of magnetic qualities which they provide for a long period of time. These magnets are also very affordable. Besides, ceramic magnets are perfect for being used at work, at home, in a shop or garage due to their magnetic qualities. These magnets are not expensive as they can be manufactured from rather affordable materials. Thus, ceramic ferrite magnets are produced from a chemical compound of ceramic and iron oxide. The process of producing ceramic magnets involves pressing and sintering mixtures of magnetic powders and ceramic. These magnets are well known as hard and brittle magnets due to the process of sintering that makes solid objects out of powder. This process also involves heating of the powder in a furnace until sticking of the particle to each other.

Strong and affordable neodymium is one of the most popular but at the same time rare earth magnets. The matter is that rare earth magnets are permanent and strong. And due to the reason that they don’t easily lose their magnetism they are permanent. These magnets were developed in the 1970s and 1980s and generally contain cobalt, iron, and nickel. Unfortunately, rare magnets often face the problems of breaking, corrosion, and chipping, but coating is able to protect the magnet from such problems.

Samarium-cobalt and neodymium are commonly used on the earth. The latter one is the strongest, even stronger than alnico, samarium-cobalt and ferrite magnets. The classification of rare earth magnets is delusive as the constituents of neodymium magnets can be easily found that makes these magnets affordable. Generally, neodymium magnets are applied in such fields as health, mechanics, electronics, as well as industrial and security sectors.

High energy strip magnets have a nitrile rubber base that makes them very resistant to oils and acid. There’s stored energy in a magnet that’s called magnet performance or magnetic energy product and it is measured in megagaussoersteds (MGOe). Thus, for instance, magnets with 1.1 - 1.6 MGOe are more powerful than usual flexible magnetic strips. These magnets can have various shapes and sizes and can be laminated or have adhesive backing. It’s important to say that flexible magnetic strips perfectly stick to any ferrous surface. Magnetic tape can be used at work, at home, or in school. Magnetic tape sticks to a great variety of surfaces due to the fact that the back has a magnetic face and the front has an adhesive face. This tape can be used for various applications due to its thinness, affordability, flexibility.
