A recent survey by Honeywell found that when faced with tough economic times, more and more Americans are rolling up their sleeves. Rolling up their sleeves and doing their own car repairs. Honeywell’s survey found that more than half of the car owners in the US are up to their elbows in grease and car parts. What was once a chore passed off to a paid professional today is now being undertaken by vehicle owners. Though the survey that almost ninety percent of owners never undertook these task before with the downturn in the economy that’s all changed. Which brings up one question? What is happening to the oil and other automotive fluids that car owners are now replacing on their own? Without using a garage that disposes of these toxic chemicals properly, we have to be concerned about where used oil, antifreeze and brake fluids are being disposed. We can only hope that with so many people becoming eco-conscious, these car owners are making an effort to dispose of their car fluids hurting the environment. And when these car owners can no longer repair their aging cars, it would be in everyone’s best interest if they were to donate a car to a green charity instead of junking their old clunker. Today car donation is a valuable resource for charities in order to continue to work their mission.
