War time continues to bring tragic news across the country and yesterday a shocking shooting at For Hood, Texas stunned the country. As the military officials slowly piece together the tragic shooting at the military base, the Red Cross has stepped up to help victims and their families. The Red Cross’ Safe and Well List was implemented yesterday for the Fort Hood shooting. This list is an internet-based tool that families can use as part of their family communications plan during the event of a disaster. The Red Cross uses the Safe and Well List as a means for victims, like those at Fort Hood, to communicate from inside the area affected by disaster. It’s a way of letting their loved ones know that they are safe and at a shelter, home or hotel. Family members can search the messages to find out about their loved ones. The Red Cross’ Safe and Well List is just one of many ways the Red Cross reaches out to people during their most dire hour.
