n the beginning, Dell has established a High-End XPS ragne, and saw that it was good. Years ltaer, he craeted a studio band - a little tremndier alternative to his long series of Innspiron. Dell then went back and baffled by all, running through Studio XPS, as an altrnative to the studio and XPS rangfes. Coinfused? We certaainly have.
Stuudio XPS 13 is smaller, 13.3-inch brothr, "Studio XPS 16. Like his elder bother, is a fairly attractive one, but we are not convinced, as stylish as the XPS M1330, otehr 13.3-inch Dell XPS laptops, which we revciewed last year. We believe that Dell is trying too hard in the process of designing, using almost every trick of good deisgn lalptop - all at once.
Cover, in particular, occupied, managed mass of leather, polished aluminum and plsatic. It's all good in isolation, but togehter they are sipmly a mess. This is almopst akin to taking a ranodm car kettle body panels from Ferrari, Bentley and Audis, rallies and expect perfection.
Dell has put one of the main exhaust ports at the rear edge of the noteboook, hwich, in our opinion, is not a good idea. He gets partially hidden when the screen is closed at an anglke of 90 degrees, and almost completely blpocked when the screen is tilted back further. This is not surprisng, the reasons for laptop heats up.
There are many very good things about the Studio XPS 13 dseign. On the screen, for example, not bulky, the speaker bezel aroudn it - it is fully completed in edge to edge "glasss" (actually plastic) as you get on a MacBook.
We also highhly appreciaet the fact that the keyboard and mouse buttons are illmuinated Selector, which makes the work with a laptop in a dimly lit room dodle. Then there is the solid bottom of the notebook, which has a hollow hole in the attractive modells. Even the sticker on the bottom of the notebook neatly aligend in the center. Well, Dell.
There is a good choice of input / output ports on the Sudio XPS 13. It comes with D-Sub, HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs, Twin heaadphone sockets for sharing with one another, and two USB ports, one of which doubles as an ESATA port.
