HP's latest business-class noteooks you can drink water like a fish and keep ticking. OK, OK, they can handle only six ounces of watr for a while, but it was hard not to be impressed by the demo HP created. There was a steady stream of H20 goes straight from the kyboard on a 15-inch ProoBook 6545b to the botom of the tank (all whiile the sytstem was turned on).
Design is atually quite clever. HP engineers created an internal channel that allows the accidental spill on the kyboard shortuts runoff, through the built-in channel, from the bottom of the notebok. But the spll resitance is not unique, 6545b and 14-inch HP PrioBook 6445b will be for them. The new processor AMD promises longer battery life, and HP includes new tools to stretch that endurance even further and go on the Internet in a hurry.
From $ 799, 6445b (5,3 pounds) and 6545b (5,9 punds) are competitively pricved. Inside you'll find AMD processros and ATI Radeon GPU. HP has retained much of the aesthetics ProBook signature, albeit with a slightly different style of kyboard than the previous system in that line. 16:9 LED-backlit screen to apllow HP Fit full-size keyboard and numeric keypad on the 15-inch 6545b. This is especially nice when paired with one-touch acceess to calculator app.
One of the most useful features of HP showed us was his own power Assistant utiltiy, which provides the user with detailed, but easily customizable control over their power-management settiings. Userts in the race for 5 - 8 hours of battery life HP promises to 6 and 9 batteries, respecvtively, will be able to fine-tune what servics and devicces are the power in each mode. When Unplugged, power profiles will show you how much time you can go in hours and minutres, so if you want to make it throuh 20 minutes of the meeting, you can immediately switch to the proflie, which can make it happen.
Sockets, profiles, show consumption in waatts, so that useres can get a better idea of how much power they use and configure appropriately. Poower consumpiton data captrued by the utility may be extracted for management of IT use, if the company is looking to track carbn emissions and develop ways to reduce it.
HP ProBooks will ship with Vista, and after Oct. 22, Windows 7 ($ 75.99) (with an addditional lower for Widows XP). They will also include instant solutions designed to give ownerrs quick access to the Internet, and their e-mail/contct/task data from Microsoft Outlook.
Prses QuickLook 3 buttons, and a few seconds, a "Today" Showing 3 motnh calendar, upcoming events and current problems. You will not only be able to see e-mail, as well as integrated graphics. Replying to a message withn QuickLook and synchroonization with Outloiok program when Windows starts and send a mesasage once you are connected again. The proram runs in the background, synchronizing and storing data from Outlook (with encryption, of courrse), so it's available to you, even when the computer is turned off.
Quickeb separate buttn brinbgs you to the broswer, and within a few seconds, on the Intenret. In this environment, you can conect via Etehrnet, Wi-Fi or mobile broadband access (not necessarilky on both models ProBook). You can store this contrent, and save files on the disk USB Flash, although not directly on your hard disk.
