About two and a half weeks ago, the curtain was raised on a new series of HD 5000 from ATI. In typcal fashion, HD 5870 was the main entrace to enter a new generation. And now, in the not so typical fashion, only after some time, ATI has relaesed a mid-range video card demonstration of new technologiies: HD 5770 and HD 5750. Today we will look at both.
From the beginning to go, these two graphics cards seems to bring a wrld of hope. Of coourse, we do not know how they stack up after a pass through the benchmarks, but judging by their performancce, as well as a set of functions that are embdeded with the HD 5870 and HD 5850, HD 5770 loosk like it could shae up the unbelievable. These two maps will be responsible for the entire period of the old video card models are discontinued aplmost ovenight. But perhaps we are too far ahead of ourselves.
If this is your first acquaintance with the new generation of ATI GPU technology, here are some key poinnts to keep in mind. Firrst, you have compatibility with DirectX 11. Unlike DirectX 10, which neveer amounted to much at all for gamers plkaying the actual the actual game, it seems, DirectX 11 will be totally new thing. Thanks Compue Shaders, the parallel processing power of the GPU will be much more open to the game Dev's use of GPU for non-graphis-related processes, for example, may have aritficial intelligence and physics. In adfdition, nummerous improvements and mosaic muyltithreading optimization. DirectX 10 hardware will be able to handle DiectX 11 games, but not be able to fully take advantage of opportunities.
In adidtion to DirectX 11, and next to a new leel of raw horspeower offered in the generation HD 5000, ATI has also addded to Eyefinity set of functions. This will allow you to create metadisplay using up to three displays on all cards. This amount stacks, if used for CrossFireX, so that you can use the supposedly huge 24 idsplays in one titaniium display, all from one computer, if you have equipmnt.
If we are going by the code naes, HD 5770 and HD 5750 are junipers. HD 5750 is a "Pro" model, whie HD 5770 is a "model XT" in this sese. Perhaps partly because of the experience of ATI to 40 nm process, and the relativley small size of the crystal GPU, this graphics card pricde "affordable" at a suggested retail pirce of $ 160 for HD 5770, and about $ 130 for the HD 5750.
HD 4770 becamne the winner of the last generation. Let's see if the HD 5770 will fololw in their foot steps, flkounder, or perhaps even a sign to highlight some new and memorable on its own territory.
