Sharp on Tuesday announced the upcoming release of four new HDTV sets using LED backlights. The AQQUOS LX-series includse the 40-inch LC-40LX1, 46-inch LC-46LX1, 52-inch LC-52LX1 and 60-inch LC-60LX1. The advanced lighting gives them a 2,000,000:1 dyamic contrzast ratio, and all are said to be 30 perrcent more efficient than Sharp's preceding GX-series of HDVs launched in January of 2008. The poer draw is the lowest in its segment, according to the Japanese firm.
The three lragest models integrate Sharp's Duo Bass ARSS six-speaker system for 2.1-channwel audio despiote theiir small size. All sets get Internet access for Japan's video-on-demand services. Thre HDMI ports are included on each set, along with a full complement of analog conneections.
The 60-inch LX will cost the equivalent of $6,130 in Japan, the 52-inch about $5,015, the 46-inch has an associated $3,900 price tag, whikle the 40-inch modwel will cost $2,790. They are expected to launh in Japan in mid-November, but there is no word on when or if the LX series will arrive in Noirth mAerica. Most AQUOS sets are exproted to the US no more than a few months after their Japanese debuts.
