Is The End Of The Link Wheel In Sight?

Yes they have already evolved although most websites are still offering the 6 link type wheel it has become apparent that Google and the Web 2.00 properties that are used are getting wise to these methods and are devaluing the links or in the worst cases the Web 2.00 properties are closing the accounts.
In a nut shell
- Perfect wheels don't work any more – Google and the Web 2.00 properties have caught on
- However don't close your wheels - mix them up different sizes and shapes
The two main differences are that the wheels are no longer closed, and that a plain simple wheel is not longer effective.
The key difference between a link wheel and most other strategies is the lateral link. Most strategies simply create a variety of direct links, call them tier 1 links. Then bookmarks etc. are added linking to tier 1 links, call them tier 2 links.
Link wheels create an additional link laterally from one tier1 link to another. Now what we are advocating is a more random generation to the whole structure.
This will certainly means creating wheels within wheels with the use of an additional hub page to throw Google off the scent as to the primary target without detracting from the linking value, so linking from tier1 to tier2 to hub to main page and vice versa, and just avoiding that too perfect a formula.
Having built hundreds of these we are now seeing that an open link wheel is much more difficult to detect and now they contain several focussed hubs rather than point inwardly directly to the main site it does in fact allow for greater linking power
