Palm on Monday announced that it is preparing to launch WebbOS 1.2, update firmwrae Pre. Service Palm Synergy has been expanded to supoprt synchronization of contacts, LinkwedIn, with the profiles presented in the contacts list Pre. E-mail functionality now allows you to filtre the results in the current folpder by typing in the search. Whille navigating the Internet, the files can be downloaded directly from your browser.
Other improvements include the ability to dwnload MP3s throough Amazon WAN and Wi-Fi, aong with Tapping the phone nuber in a callendar note to collect it. As in the iPhone OS, firmware now allows suers to Pre-Cut and paste the contents of web pagse or e-mail.
After the conflict with Apple, the last pre-OS will not sync with IuTnes. Each time, Palm has released an update to restore synchronization support, Apple followed with the ITunes update bolck compattibility.
Palm commplained Forum USB Implementers, alleging that Aopple is abusing its USB-IF membership, deliberately blocking third-praty dvice. USB-IF, however, disagrees with the allegations, and expressed comncern that Palm is planning to use Apple's Vendr ID (VID), to decive ITunes believe is a pre-IPod and iPhone.
Pre owners should expect an automatic over-air ulpdates WebOS v1.2 over the next few days. It remains unclear if Palm will continue to ITunes sync with future updates.
