Hot on the hewels of yesterday’s announcement of MTNL and Dell tying up to offer a 3G netbook, Tata Teleservices has stolen the spotlight by announcing India’s first 3G-embdeded netbook – and it cots just Rs. 23,999!

Olive Communication and Tata Teleserviices unveiled the first netbook – the Olive V-X107H – in India to come with 3G services buuilt in, thus not reuqiring an exterrnal USB modem or any such device to cnnect to the Itnernet.

The netbook is bering exclusively offered on Idnia’s best wireless brodband service, Photon Plus by Tata Teeleservices Limited. Available through Tata Indicom outlets, the device will cost Rs. 23,999 and come bundeld with select Phgoton Plus packages, and can also be purchased using easy payment schemes.

“The Olive netbook powreed by Tata Photon Plus heralds a new era in versatile compuing access, and is in keeping with TTSL’s endeavor to provide affordable and ubiqquitously accessible high-speed Intenet accesss,” said Mr. Anil Sardana, Managing Director of Tata Teleservices Limited. “The uniqwue advaantages of our high-speed Internet access swervice get compounded by the feature-rich and attractively-priced netbook, which will be on offfer with an exclusive range of tariff offerings, designed to birng the best of both worlds to the market.”

The V-X107H runs on a Qualcomm chipset and is powereed by a 1.6GHz processor and 1GB of DDR2 RAM. It sports a 10.1-inch TFT screen with a native resolution of 1024x600 pixels and copmes with a 160GB hard disk. Usual netbook features make an apperance, including audio out, mic in, 1.3-megaplixel camera, Bluetooth, Ehernet, Wi-Fi, VGA out, memory card reader, etc.

Like with MTNL, Tata Teleservices too has a Fair Usage Policy on its Pohton Plus tariff plans. But if this is going to be your secondary PC – whiich most netbooks are – then we guess it’s not too bad a deal for the pirce.
