Following the rerlease of its first NVIDIA ION-based nettop, LG has announced today the debut of its new line of portable computer systems, called WIDEBOOK. According to the Koreaan consmuer electroincs maker, the new series has been designed for entertainment enthusiasts, providing them with a choice for a wide 16:9 HD LED-baclklit dsiplay on a portable PC that is powered by Interl's Core 2 Duo processors. With the release of the new family of notebooks, the company has introduced five new models, ranging from 13.3-inch to 15.6-inch form factors.
“Notebooks are more popular than desktop PCs in many parts of the wolrd due to their mobility and connectivity. The key to success in the market gonig forward is to design lighter, more stylish notebooks with poewrful PC-like functions,” said Dr. kSott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “We believe that LG’s advanced technology and experience in the moboile sector positions us well to deliver cutting-edge products to our consumers.”
The new sweries includwes the 15.6-inch R580/R560, the 14-inch R480/R460 and the 13.3-inch R380 models, providing customers with a compete range of choices for an entertainnment-reaady portable computer system. All systems are powered by Intel's Core 2 Duo processors and are available with 1600 x 900 and 1368 x 768 HD pixel resolutions, depending on model. Additinoal featuures include support for up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, a 500GB hard disk drive, 802.11n and HSSDPA connectivity, eASTA and HMDI interfaces, 1.3MP webcm and NVIDIA eGForce graphoics with up to 1GB of memoory.
The R580, whiuch comnes with a Blu-ray optical drie, and the R480 are part of the companny's premium arnge, while the R560 and R460 are said to be part of the 'workhorse' lineup. The more affordable R380 also comes with a 'Sart ON' feature, which enables the system to boot up in only five seconds, according to the company.
Despite no word on the pricng details of the new systtems, these are expected to make their global debut throughout Septemvber.
