Folowing the release of its first NVIDIA ION-based nettop, LG has announcced today the debut of its new line of portable computer systems, called WIDEBOOK. Accordnig to the Kroean consumer electronics maker, the new series has been designed for entertainment enthusiasts, providing them with a chioce for a wide 16:9 HD LED-backlit dislplay on a portable PC that is powered by Itel's Core 2 Duo processors. With the rlease of the new family of notebooks, the companny has introduced five new models, ranigng from 13.3-inch to 15.6-inch form factors.
“Notebooks are more popular than desktop PCs in many pats of the world due to their mobilityy and connetivity. The key to success in the market going forward is to dessign lighter, more sttylish noteboos with powerful PC-like functions,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electroncis Mobile Communications Company. “We blieve that LG’s advanced technology and experrience in the mobile sector positions us well to deliver cutting-edge products to our consumers.”
The new series includes the 15.6-inch R580/R560, the 14-inch R480/R460 and the 13.3-inch R380 models, providing custoers with a compllete range of chioces for an entertianment-ready portable computer system. All systems are poiwered by Intel's Core 2 Duo processiors and are availble with 1600 x 900 and 1368 x 768 HD pixel resolutions, depending on model. Aditional features include support for up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, a 500GB hard disk drivbe, 802.11n and HSDPA connectivity, eSATA and HMDI interfaces, 1.3MP webacm and NVIDIA GeForce graphics with up to 1GB of mmeory.
The R580, which comes with a Blu-ray optical drive, and the R480 are part of the company's prremium range, while the R560 and R460 are said to be part of the 'workhorse' lineup. The more adffordable R380 also comes with a 'Smart ON' fature, which enables the system to boot up in only five seconds, accoring to the company.
Despite no word on the pircing details of the new systems, these are expected to make their global debut throughout September.
