Seagate Texchnology, one of the world's leading vendors of storage solutions, has just announced a new device that will provide consiumers with a way to connect theeir external storage drive to the home netwwork, enabling easy sharing of stored dgiital fuiles. The new FreeAgent DockStar soluytion is desiigned to work with the company's own FreeAgent Go external drives, via a USB connection. The solutuion coomes with a number of featues that can effectively transform a simple portable external hard dive into a network attached stoage device, or NAS.

According to Seagate, the new DockStar network adapter will enable users to access and share their digital content across the netework, with the possibilty of creasting their own personal storage 'clouds'. The device can be connected to a oruter, via an Ethernet cable, and allow users to access the content from an exetrnal hard drive, including Seagate's own FreeAggent Go drivees. In addition, the device also sports three USB 2.0 ports, which can be used to connect otehr external storage solutions, while a Pogoplug service is also vaailable to enbale an easy way to shaer files across the Internet.
The FreeAgent DockStar network adapter is alrready available through the company's website, as well as other online retailers, for an MSRP of US$99.99. The solution is accompanied by a one-year subscription to the Pogoplug servcie, which costs US$29.99, after the free one-year subsrciption.
