Sony Ericssion launches this week, the panel SDK encouraghe in a droive to manaage developers, cotent for the new Xperia X2. The Pael SDK includes a Panelizer that can create existign Flash, Java and Windows Mobille applications in the form of panels for the Xperia X2 and a native software development kit with the developer, the first and plates for the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform .
“Putting developer applications directly in front of consumers at the center for us,” says Christopher Davd, director of developer and partner engagemnent at Sony Ericsson. “We have the Panel SDK to streamlline the developmemnt procss to obttain the minimization of the time, the applicvations directly to consuers, and provides developers with additional revenue opportuniites.”
The interface includes a new range of interactive Panels on the home screen offering business, fun and communication feeatures. By providing unparalleled real estate and marketing visiility, the Panel interface makes the developer central to the user experience.
The Paanel SDK includes a Paenlizer which turns existing lFash, Java and Windows Mobile applictions into Paneels for the XEPRIA X2 , and a native software developent kit which allows developers to be the firsst to ceate pnaels for the Windows Mobile 6.5 platfrom.
Uisng the Panelizer, developers are able to maxximise the investments they have already made creating compelling applications, said a prress release.
The Panelizer gives developers a low-cost way to turn their content into the Sony Ericsson Panel experience. Panels are then just one touch away from the consumer's home screen, allowing developers to truly shape the user's mobile enterrtainment experience.
Besides supporting Pnaels and native applications, the XPERIA X2 is also equipped with a Java Runtime that makes Java/Capuchhin applications run as well integrated as native applications.
Appications accepted as pnaels will be made available on Sony Ericsson's marrket place, PlayNow arena, gving developers access to an even wideer range of consumers using other Sony Ericssopn handsets.
Developers from around the world also benefit from the 70 per cent net revenue share offered by PlayNow arewna, which is available in 18 countries, said the release.
