Ebay is one of the best, easiest, and freshest avenues for an aspiring seller, or indeed a business to start with little or no capital, no business bank account, money can simply be collected for items using Ebay's own paypal payment system(even though it looks as an unfair monopoly on buyers and sellers as more credence, availability and indeed impetus is being put on using Paypal than any other payment system, the monopoly on the market by Ebay aside, this is still a great advantage for the aspiring Ebay seller or indeed Ebay power seller with little or no upfront capital).
Profits can and are being made, by prudent sellers simply buying and selling using their know how and selling their old equipment as the original concept of Ebay, be it clothes, electronic items, or indeed services.
However inevitably for any seller on Ebay, there is the dreaded event of logging into their paypal account, and seeing the message that a buyer has filed a dispute, for whatever reason, and whatever the product is, Paypal taking into consideration that the buyer may indeed be justified will always require the seller to provide proof that they sent the item, to fill in the tracking number of the postage service they used to send the item, as well as a scan copy of the receipt for the postage service, which must also be faxed to Paypal. This might cause a bit of a problem to many startup sellers, who are not selling their items as a business, but simply to get rid of it, especially if they do not have a scanner or a fax machine, many would simply just refund the buyer and avoid all hassles, especially with their ability to retaliate with negative feedback when a transaction has gone sour on Ebay presently without recourse.
Recently Ebay removed the ability for sellers to give negative feedback to buyers, this effectively put an end to revenge feedback, whereby a buyer buys an item from an Ebay seller, and for whatever reason they leave a negative feedback on the seller's feedback profile, the seller may feel that this is uncalled for, for whatever reason, maybe the buyer misread the item description, did not pay particular attention to the postage being advertised, or simply was not giving their honest opinion on the item and the whole transaction generally, could easily retaliate with their own negative feedback, if the buyer was a brand new buyer with a brand new Ebay account, having a negative feedback rating would send alarm bells to other sellers whenever the buyer bid on their item (as some Ebay sellers automatically have their items barred from being bidded upon by buyer's with negative feedback, you could see how this would affect Ebay's sales and revenue, as for any business to continue to prosper it needs an influx of new customers, if new buyer's are disuaded from bidding on other items due to a few negative events during their first few transactions, they would be unwilling to spend more, and may even spread the news that their initial experiences were negative and others should steer clear). With this new development many Ebay sellers feel they are simply powerless and at the mercy of the buyer, the old adage that "the customer is always right" no doubt came into play when the people that mattered made this decision to omit Ebay seller's from giving negative feedback on a sale.
However if the seller feels that they are justified in disputing the claim they are solutions and information out there that can aide their cause.
