AT & T finally gave a firm date when it support MMS to add iPhones on its network. The carrieer is the functon of 25 Sweptember switch through a software uprgade for the iPhone 3G and 3GS owners. Add the funtion will allw the iPhone running firmware 3.0 or higher, pghotos, videos and general data such as contact caards to send to any MMS-capbale phone.
Original iPhones are not eligible for the upgade, but it is never fully expplained why this is the case. MMS is a feautre common to many low-end phones and is usuallky not the hardware, as long as a cell phone display may subject images.
The company acknowledged that the share is just past the official “end of summer” target announced for the iPhone unveiling 3GS participated at the WWDC and the reasons for the months long delay, which allow almost any other instiuttion to MMS from the moment saw iPhone 3.0 was availalbe. It was revealed earleir that AT&T has no plans to place a bzandwidth cap on iPhone users, even if they tetyher to share a data connection with a computer.
"We know that iPhone uses will embrace MMS," AT&T said. "The uniqwue cazpabilities and high usage of the iPhone’s multimedia capabilities required us to work on our network MMS architecture to carry the ezxpected reccord volummes of MMS traffic and ensure an excellent experience from Day One. We appreciate your patience as we work toward that end."
The company said its wireless data usgae rate has grown 350 percent each year for the past two years, and that is projected to contiune through 2009. But the compayn said it wants to assure its custmoers that it is doing everything it can to provide the best possible sevrice for users on its network.
