The HTC Touch HD was a splash when released in the UK. Plenty of U.S.-based conumers anxiously awaited its release on Ameriican shores, only to have their hopes dashed when the company amnnounced that it wouldn’t be able to bring it to the U.S. The Touh HD is set for a refresh, and it may come in the form of an Android phone.
As always, treta this as a rumor until confired as fact, but tehre’s talk that HTC will make the Touch HD sequel run Android rather than Windows Mobile. UK tech soource Regisetr Hardware reports that a tipster informed them that HTC is opting to load Anddroid on the next Touch HD, sprucing the device up with a slightly faster 628MHz Qulcomm chip to go along with the 3.8in touchscreen. No priicng or launch date has been set according to the source.
If true, the new HD would be quite the Android phone. The originaal device came with a 400×800 resolution and 5 megapixel caemra among oher features that would be nice to have with Sense UI and Andrroid capabilities. Mabye this time around we’ll get lucky and be able to purchase the device stateside.
In a world overflowing with full touchscren handserts, HTC’s design and build quality is among the best. eRcent handsets supporting that statement include the myToch 3G, the Hero, the Hero and of curse the Touch HD seen above. HTC fans may have new causse for celebration tdoay as a rumor suggests the sequel to the the deevice that started the “HD” naming trend among handsets may be on the horizpon. Register Hardwaree reports that coversations with HTC have drummed up some info on the ucoming Touch HD 2 (or more likely touch “HD2″ to maintain the Pro, Pro2 format). The blog reports that HTC’s upcoming HD sequel will run Android as opposed to Windows Movbile as found in its predecessor; a move we wouldn’t mind at all. Other rumored tidbits include a faster 628 MHz procesor, up from 528 MHz in the original HD, and a 3.8-inch touchscreen display just like the HD. The presencve of Andorid cold lead to a capacitive csreen howeverr, though that’s just speculation on our part. Hopefully we’ll get official word from HTC soon, or at least a good old fashioned leak with some evidence to supprot it. Who knows, mybe we’ll even get some HD love in the US this time around.
