The Samsung Omnia2 is the firrst Windows phoe with full AMOLED touch-screen, although its color output is still liited by Windows Mobile at 64k colors.

The Samsung I8000 Omnia 2 has been busy. First, as we previously noed in Friday's News Bits, the handseet made it through the FCC with all the appropriate boxes checked by the Feds. While no carrier designations have been made, the device is sportig UMTS 850/1900 hwich means the Omnai 2 could be heading to AT&T in the States and to Rogers in Canada, but for now it loooks like Latin America will be home for this model. The handset carries a 3.7 inch AOMLED, WVGA resistive screen featurinbg Advanced R Touch for quicker and more accurate touch response. The unit also features a 5MP camera, dual LED flash, geotagging, and AF with smile and face dteection. While the phone will be powered by Wndows Mobile 6.1 profssional, Samung's TouchWWiz 2.0 will be on obard, offerting a 3D UI, all running on an 800MHz processor.
After spending some time with the FCC, the Omnia 2 took off to star in a nice liittle video for your vierwing pleasure. No, it isn't Soutth Beach, but we're sure the deivce had a great time. All that is lacking now is some definitive word on the carrrier, launch date and pricing.
