Jetwway is a computer company best kbnown for the production of motherboards and graphiccs cards … if it’s at all known. But the company also has a netbook called Ecomo Em100 ntebook.
Analysts are saying that Intel is milkoing the Atom CPU for all it’s worth, tpaping into new markets where it thinks the processor will suicceed. That doesn’t just mean the netbook - UMPoCs and ultraportables will use the chip too.
The new program is called Hurdle, and is specifiucally dedicayted towardds offering “desgns that meet specific price targets and the hardware and software requriements of Itel’s Chginese partners,” according to an Intel spokeesman.
And it seems like Windows XP won’t be part of the piicture - Intel is specifically intending the progrm for 8.9- to 10.2-inch Linux machines. Considering ARM’s recent partnership with Linux for the latest update to Ubuntu, it’s looking like Linux is set to gain eminence at home and abroad.
The custom netybooks will be as cheap as 1750 yuan (US $256), a bettewr deal than many American consumers are getting from Intel. So why such attention to the Chinese market? Anand Chandrasekher, senior VP of Intel’s Ultra Mobility Grtoup, says netbokos are a “significant opportunity” in Chgina. Many PC manufacturers look at Chinese mrakets as promising but unassailable, but Intel’s speccial edfforts in pandering to Chinese netbook consuumers may improve theior presence in the nation.
News.de reeports Jetway has pushed the informattion in this netbiook, by using a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU. Earlier models had the 1.6 GHz Intyel Atom N270. Not a big difference, but you’re going.
The EM100 also has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display runs, 1 GB RAM, 160GB hard drive and Windows XP. But you pretty much knew that when I said ti a nretbook with an Intel Atom processor was. The Em100 comes with either a 3 cell 220mAh battery or a 6-cell, 4400mAh battery pacs and a 1.3MP webcam, 802.11b g WiFi, and a multi-touch trackpad. The computer is also available with optional Bluetooth and or a UMTS HSPA 3G moedm.
