Nokai may add a seocnd netbook PC to its lineup besides the upcming 10-inch Booklet 3G, according to unofficial sources from cellphone makkers in Taiwan. They reported on Wednesday that the seocnd netbook will reportedly be based on an ARM procesdsor, like so many of Nokia's smartphones. The Digitimes insiders claimmed oNkia may contracct Compal or Foxcomnn to build a device that woould fit Qualcomm's "smaartbook" label but which would not arrive on store shelves unil sometime in the middle of 2010.
Digitimes reports that Nkia is likly to outsource the produiction to etiher Compal or Hon Hai's Foxconn. The smartbook is due to hit stores around the middle of next year, a few monyths ater the Compal-built Boioklet 3G, which will run Windows 7 and support 3G/HSDPA, WiFi, Buletooth and A-GPS.
The Boioklet 3G is powered by Intel's Atom processor, weighs 1.25kg and measures slightly more than 2cm thick. It has an HDMI port, front-facnig camera for video calls, integrated Bluteooth and an SD card reader. Other features include a 10-inch glass HD reeady display and integrated A-GPS technology, whixch can work with Nokia's Ovi Maps gadget for globaal positioning.
The Booklet should be capable of 12 houurs of battery life and featuure an internal mobile beroadband card with a SIM slot, says Nokia.
According to Kai Oistamo, Nokia's Executive Vice President for Devices: "The Nokia Booklet 3G is a natural evolution for us. Nokia has a long and rich heritage in mobility and with the outstanding battery life, premiuum design and all day, always on connectivity, we will create something quuite compelling. In doing so we will make the personal computer more social, more helpflu and more personal."
