Means: I am overcharging you and trying to justify my reasons for doing so.
Said: I will sell everything in one group for $500 if you pay within 24 hours.
Means: I need money before my bookie comes to takeout my kneecaps.
Said: This is selling for X amount of dollars on eBay.com.
Means: I am too cheap to pay eBay’s fees, so I am selling on Craigslist but still expect to make the same money or more.
Said: My loss is your gain.
Means: This I don’t even have an explanation for; I don’t understand why people use this phrase.
Said: LN dresser GC $50 OBO, CM.
Means: You are likely dealing with a text messaging college student who is really trying to say “Like new dresser, good condition, $50 or best offer; call me.”
Said: Price is firm.
Means: I am broke and need the money. Do not bother calling or emailing me to ask for a better deal; I will say no.
Said: Send me an email to get pictures.
Means: I am too lazy to post pictures myself; actually I am hoping no one will ask.
Said: This dining room table is really well-built.
Means: It may be sturdy, but it is ugly.
Said: This is a designer couch.
Means: I am overcharging you because I consider anything that doesn’t come from Wal-Mart to be designer.
