Have you tried to use Craigslist as a way to make extra money? Are you doing anything but? If the things you listed on Craigslist aren’t selling, you are likely to have many questions. Continue reading on to get a few answers.
Question: I have had my Craigslist posting up for months. I keep relisting it, but it isn’t selling. Why?
Answer: Because you keep on posting the same listing over, over, and over again. By the first 30 days, you should have realized something was wrong. Maybe you just have junk, maybe you didn’t include picture or give enough information. Most Craigslist shoppers are repeat customers. They aren’t wondering if you are offering a good deal; they are wondering why you haven’t gotten the point yet.
Question: I said that I would email pictures upon request, why hasn’t anyone emailed me?
Answer: You are lazy for not posting pictures and interested buyers are lazy too; they don’t want to take the few minutes it takes to send off an email. If you don’t have the less than five minutes it takes to snap and upload a picture, don’t even bother. You will be unlikely to get any takers in the free section with no picture, let alone someone to pay $100 for a couch.
Question: My entire home decor is new and the price is good, but why isn’t it selling on Craigslist?
Answer: You likely have bad taste. Lets face it, a homeowner could easily spend $50 on an oil painting. So common sense says they would jump at the chance to pay $20 for yours. The only problem is that they think it is ugly. Home decor especially can be tricky because we all have different tastes.
Question: I have had a $50 couch sitting outside for days now even though it was listed on Craigslist. Why isn’t it selling?
Answer: It won’t sell if buyers know it has been sitting outside or even in your garage. Honestly, do you know how much crap that couch has likely come into contact with? Forget bed bugs, how about a dead mouse stuck in the cushions – how attractive! As soon as you replace your couch or whatever it is with something new, sell it. Most importantly, don’t keep it outside or even in your garage. Sell it right away, not 9 months later.
Now that you got an answer to a few of your questions, what are you going to do now? You should do three things:
1 – Lower Your Price
2 – Move Your Listing to the Free Section
3 – Just Give Up
