Craigslist.org, Craigslist shopping, Craigslist vs yard sales, Craigslist search tools, software

Are you looking for some good deals? If so, you may think about hitting up a few local yard sales. Although this is a good idea, there is an even better one. Craigslist.org. Craigslist is an online classified website where people buy, sell, and trade.

So, why is Craigslist better than yard sale shopping?

1 – No Unnecessary Travel

Lets face it, yard sale hosts like to embellish what they have. Their yard sale starts at 9am and they have “1,000s of items for sale.” The only problem is when you get there (right at 9am) they maybe have 100 items and it is all junk. Guess what? You wasted a trip. That doesn’t happen on Craigslist. The only travel required is when you want to see an item in-person or buy it.

2 – Browsing in the Middle of the Night

Yard sale hosts have specific sale times. Meaning if their sale runs from 9am to 1pm, you better be there then. They don’t like people showing up a day or two later. You don’t have this problem online. You can browse on Craigslist in the middle of the night in your pajamas if you want! The only thing is I wouldn’t be calling to score a good deal at 1 in the morning.

3 – Haggle Behind a Computer

We all like a good deal, but many of us hate to ask for that good deal in-person. If you are the type of person who would rather pay an extra $10 at a yard sale because you are afraid to ask for a discount, Craigslist is best for you. Most buyers and sellers talk via phone or email first. You may find it easier to ask for and score a discount.

4 – Price Compare

Since you are on your computer looking at Craigslist.org, you can compare prices. You can checkout Walmart.com and other retail websites to see the price of new. You can also price compare Craigslist. That dresser is nice, but I bet someone else nearby has a cheaper one. You can’t price compare at yard sales. You can just hope that the seller was using their head when attaching that price tag.

5 – Free Things

Did you know that Craigslist has a free section? They do. Some garage sale hosts have a box out front filled with free stuff, but it is usually junk. They will try with all their might to get that box of stained clothes sold for $20 because someone who sews can use the scraps. Craigslist’s free stuff section does have some junk, but you may also be surprised with what you can find. You can find like-new couches, desks, chairs, beds, kids toys, and more. These people don’t want to make money; they just want less clutter in their homes.

As you can see, shopping Craigslist is a lot better than going garage sale shopping. So what are you waiting for? Visit Craigslist.org or download a Craigslist search tool to Craigslist search multiple cities, entire states, or all of Craigslist.
