Cheap CDs, cheap DVDs, cheap movies, Craigslist deals, Craigslist nationwide, Craigslist searches

Do you like listening to music and watching movies? If so, you may want to develop or expand your current collection of CDs, DVDs, or VHS tapes. A great place to get started is Craigslist.org. The online classified service is home to many great deals, but continue reading on for a few buying tips that pertain to media related items, such as movies and music.

Look for lots. Lots are also known as groups. For example, a buyer has a collection of 10 Blu-Ray movies. Instead of creating a separate listing for each movie, they post one with all movies listed. There is usually the option to buy each movie separately, like for $15 each, or buy the entire group. Although you don’t have to buy the entire collection, you are usually offered a discount for doing so. This is where the great deals are usually found; in lots or groups on Craigslist.

Price check online to ensure you are getting the best deal. Many sellers are fair when setting their selling prices, but others just want to make money. Ensure their quest to make money doesn’t cost you more than it should. Never pay the cost of new for something that is used. For example, Blu-Ray movies regularly sell for $25 to $35. If a movie has only been opened and watched once, it doesn’t matter because it is still used. You could reasonable expect to pay around $10 or $15 a movie, but don’t go much higher.

Ask if the items play well. The thing about buying CDs and DVDs is that they are easily scratched. Just putting a CD into a music player can leave a few scratches. You may be careful, but that doesn’t mean that others are. Always ask about scratching. Ask how many are on the CD or DVD and then ask if the item plays well. A buyer should say yes or no. An “I don’t know,” answer isn’t good enough.

It is best to avoid shipping unless you suggest it. Movies and music purchases are easy to ship through the mail because they are light. If you find a great deal on Blu-Ray movies, you may want to avoid the hour long drive to pick them up. You may suggest mailing instead. As long as you agree to pay shipping costs, a seller should agree. However, avoid listings where the seller states the only way to get your purchases is by mail. Craigslist is designed to connect local buyers and sellers. Someone who is dead set against a local exchange may have something to hide.

Search all of Craigslist. Although it is risky, you can ask a seller to mail your purchases. For that reason, do more than search for CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes through your local Craigslist city page. Unfortunately, this is difficult as Craigslist does not allow nationwide searches. Since it will take you days to examine all for sale media items, download the free Craigslist Reader at MotionT.com to save time. Search multiple cities, entire states, or the entire website at once. Find the best deals within minutes!
