If you've ever taken the time to go shopping for a new laptop or notebook, chances are that you have felt a little bit overwhelmed with the number of choices available to you. In fact, when you consider the number of processor choices, memory sizes, screen sizes and colors, your goal of just buying a computer for yourself may seem a lot further away than you thought.
In order to make your shopping experience a little bit easier, all you need to do is to figure out what you will be using your new laptop for. Some of the more common uses for a notebook could include word processing, surfing the Internet and checking your e-mail. If you fall into this group, a cheap or inexpensive laptop will suffice.
But if your needs include more demanding tasks such as video editing, gaming or drafting, then you might want to consider getting a computer that has a few more bells and whistles. Some examples of these dedicated features would include dedicated video cards, higher screen resolution, and faster processors. Pricing on these type of computers will vary and the pending on your needs, you could potentially spend thousands of dollars.
Another area that you need to look into when buying a laptop is the warranty. Most notebooks come with a one year parts and labor warranty but there are other companies out there that offer better terms. Some examples would include companies like ASUS, which offers a one-year accidental damage warranty. In many cases it is worth spending more money if the warranty conditions are more favorable for you.
Also make sure that there are laptop bags available in the size of the notebook that you are buying. There are some laptops that don't fit in most bags ( predominantly 16 inch and 21 inch laptops) and you should make sure that you can find a laptop bag for the one you're looking at buying. It is just one of those things that will probably slip your mind while you're at the store, and by the time you've noticed it you won't be old to return to laptop.
So be sure to know what you will be using your laptop for, know the kind of warranty you are expecting and make sure that there is a laptop bag that will fit the machine that you are going to buy when you are out purchasing a notebook.
