In my search for the perfect baby shower cards, I’ve always come up pretty empty handed. So, I decided to change my search tactics and start looking into the handmade market for baby shower cards. While there are a few resources online for baby shower cards, there aren’t as many as I had hoped that I would find. Even the local card shops don’t carry many options for baby shower cards.
So I took my search for these ever elusive baby shower cards to one of my favorite websites, Etsy.com. I was truly amazed at the number of people who specialize in handmade baby shower cards! People have taken their hobbies and their knowledge and turned themselves into entrepreneurs – and they’re making baby shower cards! I’d seen wedding invitations, greeting cards, thank you cards, all sorts of different cards on Etsy.com before, but to find baby shower cards really made my day!
I found cards with ducks and cards with trains, cards with announcements and cards with footprints. Some people offer different themes and some offer different colors. All of baby shower cards that I came across were customizable. Some of them were printable from your own computer and some of them were printed and sent to you. I even found a couple of people who would address the baby shower cards and send them to the new mommy-to-be for you!
I also came across a few different websites that offered baby shower cards that can be personalized and emailed. Of course, there is always the good old standby, Hallmark, but the baby shower cards at retail stores seem very generic, having little thought or imagination put into them. Personally, I prefer the handmade baby shower cards. They show that the sender spent time considering the new mommy-to-be and really put themselves into the card.
If you’re feeling particularly creative, you could even make your own baby shower cards. Grab some construction paper or cardstock, a good pair of scissors, some colorful pens and start creating! Craft stores have every kind of cutout imaginable for you to create your very own, personalized baby shower cards. Choose a color of cardstock that coordinates with the baby shower theme. Find embellishments for your card and write a personal note inside especially for the new mommy-to-be. She will feel very special and worthy of more than your ordinary, run of the mill baby shower cards.
