A baby shower isn’t a baby shower without baby shower games. The fun you have at your baby shower playing games can be some of the most memorable experiences that you will have during the pre-baby events. Part of making the experience successful is by thoughtful party planning and having fun baby shower games! It is always a good idea to go around the room and let everyone introduce themselves and tell how they know the mommy-to-be.
There are numerous baby shower games for you to play at your party. Some are printable games like Baby Shower Bingo and Finish the Nursery Rhyme. You can find free printable baby shower games in various places online. Party stores and craft stores also carry baby shower games on notepads that you tear sheets off of.
Traditional baby shower games include Guess Mommy’s Tummy Size and Say Baby. In Guess Mommy’s Tummy Size, each guest pulls a piece of string or yarn to a length they think will fit around mommy’s tummy. After everyone has their string, compare the results to mommy’s actual tummy.
A prize goes to the person closest to the actual size. Say Baby is played by giving each guest a string or yarn necklace with a baby diaper pin hanging on it. Whenever a guest says the word “baby” during the shower, whoever hears it and calls it out gets the other guest’s diaper pin. The winner is the guest with the most diaper pins.
Another tradition in baby shower games is to guess the baby food. Buy several jars of baby food and take off the labels. Tape the label to the bottom of the jar that it came from. Pass around the jars and let each guest taste the different foods. The guest then write down what they think they tasted. The winner is the guest with the most correct answers.
I have to say, though, that my least favorite of all baby shower games is “What’s that Smell?” Fill six disposable diapers with various things, for example, orange juice, hot sauce, mustard, vapor rub, cinnamon and relish. Close up the diapers and pass them around the room. Each guest writes down what they think is in each of the diapers. Whoever gets the most correct answers wins.
If you keep your baby shower games fun and exciting, they can be create lasting memories for the guests as well as the new mommy.
