Individuals who have moles present on some of the parts of their bodies, often opt for mole removal. There are certain moles that exist since the time of birth and there are other few that are formed in the later stage of life as the skin is constantly exposed to the sun. This is due to the fact that the mole is actually formed when some amount of pigmented cells accumulate. The moles that exist from the time of birth are termed as congenital nevi.

There are a lot of options to choose from for the removal of a mole. Mole removal at home and at the clinic are the two general classifications. There are again a lot of methods that fall under the clinical mole removal category. Laser mole removal is however one of the most preferred amongst them.

The penetrating power of the laser is what is utilized to remove the mole by this method. The penetrating power of the laser beam is not strong enough to go much deeper into the skin. As a result of this, moles that are small and flat are removed using this technique. Moles that are bigger cannot be efficiently removed using this technique.

The first thing done by the laser beam is the sealing of the blood vessels. It then causes the vaporization of the skin tissues. The blood vessels are basically sealed to avoid bleeding. The fragmentation of the darker pigments on the skin takes place in this method. These fragments then become lighter on being absorbed by the skin.

To perform laser removal of the mole a local anesthesia is not necessarily needed. The doctor usually recommends it for removing the moles that are a little bigger in size. In majority of the cases, there is no anesthesia given. This is because this process does not result in severe pain. A feeling of being snapped by a rubber band or a tingling sensation is generally felt.

In addition to the various advantages that this method provides, there are also certain drawbacks associated with it. The expense is one of the major drawbacks. Removal of a mole is considered to be a cosmetic problem and not a medical one. This is the reason why the person going for this method has to pay for the expense in majority of the cases, as it is not covered by most of the insurance companies.

The possibility of a scar being left is very minimal in this procedure. It is however important to take adequate post care. A scab is formed in the area where the mole was located after the treatment. It is important to protect this area from the sun for a few days. In order to prevent any kind of infection it should also not be scratched.

One of the best options to remove the moles that are located on the face is the laser mole removal. It is considered to be one of the most efficient ways to remove moles. The most wonderful thing about this method is that it does not involve a lot of pain and there is no bleeding at all.
