A skin tag is a piece of tissue attached to your skin. It is attached to your body and can affect your appearance. However they are not a sign of anything which is dangerous to you. They can also be removed quite easily. There are a number of options which you can call upon in order to successfully achieve this.

It does not take a lot of effort for this to happen. It hardly takes any time at all, no matter what approach you choose to employ. It is usually something which can be done without you feeling any physical pain. You may either deal with them at home or you can call upon the services of a medical professional. Either ways it won't take long.

They are known to commonly affect you in the armpit area, although it is possible to get them almost anywhere. It is very commonly experienced by people who have undergone noticeable fluctuations in their weight over the years. As your body ages it becomes far more likely that you will begin to notice them appearing on your body in many different places.

Most people deal with the matter using an old fashioned approach which has been shown to work to great effect. This must be done very tightly as the idea is to cut off the blood supply so that it withers and dies. Once this happens then it will simply fall off. This will take a day or more but is something which has been shown to be both simple and effective.

You might decide just to cut it off yourself. If you choose this particular course of action then it is best if you are careful about the process to avoid injuring yourself or getting infected.

Try keeping your focus on cutting away only the tag. The scissors which are used for such a procedure should be as sharp as possible and also sterilized. You can stem any blood flow which is a result of this by adding some cotton wool to the wound and it is also advisable to sterilize it with rubbing alcohol once the tag has been cut off.

If you don't like the sound of using scissors then you may wish to visit your local pharmacist as there are many different products which are available such as creams and lotions designed specifically to address this specific concern. There are various lotions and creams which can be applied to the area affected. Once these have had time to get to work they cause a tag to wither away like a scab. This is also something which has been shown to be painless and easy.

If you prefer to take an approach which errs on the side of being safe then it might be best to call upon a medical professional to assist you with the process. This generally involves the skin tag being frozen off. This takes seconds and will not cause you any pain. If there are any other concerns with regards to your skin then contacting a dermatologist will prove useful to you.
