Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is nothing but a type of mixed martial art form. It has gained a lot of popularity. In order to excel in any kind of art, one needs to be equipped with the right type of gears. The same thing goes for this art form as well. All the essential jiu jitsu gear needs to be present with a person, who is a beginner in this art form. Obtaining the right kind of gear is essential, for their career.

There are plenty of gears which one can buy for the sport. However having a few of them is essential. The jiu jitsu gi is the most important among all. It is also known as kimono. It consists of a top and pants. It is essential to wear it during the matches. Wearing them during the time of practice is however also advised. Comfort is one of the most important elements that should be given a consideration. It is important to be comfortable during matches.

There are two kinds in which the gear is generally available. It includes the lightweight gear and the heavyweight gear. There is actually no variation in the material, which is used to make them. The quantity of the material used, is the only thing that differs. The lightweight gear is the one which is made up using lesser material while more material is used to make the heavyweight gear. The plus point of the lightweight gear is that it is much more comfortable than the heavyweight gear. The heavyweight gear however also offers its share of advantages by not allowing the opponent to get a easy grip of your kimono.

The weave that the gear has is also one of the important things to be considered. The first is the single weave. A single weave is usually the one that a lightweight gear has. This type of weave offers the maximum comfort. It can however also get ripped off very easily. The second type of weave is the double weave. Kimonos made up of this weave are very durable. This weave is usually used to make the heavyweight gear. Another type of weave that lies between the single and the double weave is the gold weave. A major issue with it however is that it usually shrinks after being washed. As a result of this the one who opts for the gold weave normally buys a bigger size. Out of all the available weaves, the pearl weave is considered to be the best.

The kimonos come in a lot of sizes. One can thus choose the one that fits them well. Seven sizes are usually available. A0 to A6 is the range of the available sizes. The sizes A5 and A6 that are suitable for individuals who are very huge are not very easily available. A2 and A3 are the sizes which people most often purchase. Huge kids normally go for the size A0.

One of the other important gears is the belt. The color of the belt is used to represent the rank or the status of the person in the sport. A white belt is the one that is given to a beginner. As one goes ahead with the training, belts of further colors can be obtained. The last one is the black belt. This level is usually not reached before ten to twelve years.
