How To maintain Your Laptop keyboard and Increase Its Longetivity Maintaining your laptop's keyboard is important is extending its life and saving you lots from costly keyboard repairs. It is important that you use and keep your laptop's keyboard in its best condition so that you can fully take advantage of its longetivity.

You may want to consider the amount of germs harboring within your keyboard. In most if not all cases, people do not clean their hands before typing and if your keyboard is white in color it is quite easy to tell when it's dirty, but if it's black then you may not have a clue whether it's dirty or not.

There is always constant dust in the air, and if you do clean your house then you obviously have an idea as to how much dust can accumulate over a short period of time. The same thing applies to your laptop, dust and dirt can accumulate within short spaces of time and for that you may have to do some spring cleaning even though spring is long past. Below are some instructions on how you can clean your laptop keyboard.

The first thing is to make sure that your main power supply is off. You can get a nasty shock from the backlight inverter in the event that your laptop is powered. So just unplug and switch it off.

The next thing to do is turn the keyboard upside down and gently shake it whilst pressing the keys to free any dirt particles. Now turn the keyboard upright again and spray the entire keyboard area with compressed air which you should have acquired from a computer store. This will help in removing any remaining particles.

There are basically three ways in which you clean your laptop keyboard. Make sure that you do not spray anything onto the keyboard. Take a clean cloth and spray it with disinfectant then you can wipe the keys gently. Alternatively you can use disinfecting swipes or dip swipes where you can dip them in alcohol and rub the individual keys gently. You will be surprised as to how much dirt will come out. Using this simple procedure can go a long way in saving you lots if cash. After you have left everything to dry, you can plug the keyboard back into place. You never know may be after such a procedure your keyboard will respond much faster to your typing commands.

Although the above procedure is meant to help you keep and maintain your keyboard, you may also want to know a thing or two about what to do when your keyboard starts typing wrong characters.

What to do when your keyboard types wrong characters
