In order to better understand the functions of the blanket throws it’s important to define what a throw blanket is at all. Well, the latter is a special form of bed linen. Usually, it’s a medium size blanket having the size three feet by five feet. The greater number of the adult population of the Earth still doesn’t know what the difference between blankets and throws is. Well, a throw is very similar to traditional blankets, but the only significant difference between them is that the throw serves mainly for decorative purposes.

As a rule, throw blankets are produced from cotton, silk, velvet, rayon, fleece, fur, chenille or a mixture of cotton and polyester. Nowadays, most of people prefer rayon throws due to their high attractiveness and rather low price in comparison with purely cotton throw blankets. It’s significant to mention that the material applied for producing throw blankets greatly depends on the further usage of this or that throw as well as on the decorative functions of the item.

In the contemporary market there’s a wide variety of different throw blankets. Thus, they may classified depending on their usage and you’re going to find bed throws, blanket throws, couch throws, sofa throws, comforter throws, and rug throws. Thus, for instance, knit sofa and couch throws are specially designed for the living room and dining room furnishing, while bed and blanket throws are mainly used for bedding furnishing. A quilted throw is created from two sheets of fabric between which there’s a layer of wool that is not only beautiful but also warm and can be used during cold winter evenings while you’re sitting in front of the mantelpiece with a cup of hot tea.

It’s necessary to emphasize that a throw blanket can be traditional or contemporary in its design. Due to the great variety of color shades and designs offered in the modern market, you can easily choose the one which would perfectly match into any design of your house d?cor.

Throw blankets are used for various purposes – at home, in the automobile, cabin and for an outdoor picnic.
