A natural kind of sex presupposes two bodies to meet in a potentially friction restricted way always requiring either natural of specially manufactured sex lubricant. It’s used for decreasing friction and enhancing pleasure.

What are Sex Lubricants?

Sex lubricants which are often called personal lubricants are specially created lubricants for applying in the process of sexual activities. Just as conventional lubricants are designed to decrease friction between two objects, sex lubricants are also made for this very purpose. Contemporary sex lubricants originate from surgical lubricants like KY Cream that was earlier used for vaginal and anal examinations to simplify access for the surgeon and prevent discomfort for the patient. KY cream was initially created to serve as a surgical lubricant, but soon it was recognized to be a wonderful lubricant used in sexual activities. Lately, a great number of companies have designed and manufactured a wide choice of sex lubricants.

Water Based Sex Lubricants

Water based lubricants are water soluble and almost never cause skin irritation. Earlier water based lubricants were cellulose based products but later additional ingredients were applied in the production process having improved the Lubricants contents. Such ingredients have better spreading properties and better resist defilement.

The major disadvantage of earlier water based lubricants was that they used to dry up quickly. Luckily, a small amount of water can improve their properties. Today’s water based lubricants include dimethicone prolonging the lubricating properties preventing drying up. Nevertheless, remember that water based lubricants can’t be used during sex practices in water substances, so they can’t be used during sex in a bathroom, for instance.

Oil Based Sex Lubricants

Oil based lubricants aren't that popular today because of some disadvantages. Unlike water based lubricants oil products are able to weaken latex from which condoms are produced. Besides, oil based lubricants can coat and stick to surfaces for a long periods of time becoming a wonderful home for bacteria that can further cause infections. In addition, oil based lubricants aren’t safe for vaginal sex and can be used for anal sex only when both parties don’t have STD's. it has to be mentioned that oil based lubricants such as Vaseline and baby oil being extremely cheap carry a lot of health risks. So, it’s better not to save money.

Silicone Based Lubricants

The hydrophobic nature of silicone base lubricants technically makes them oil based but the greater number of them have been created chemically compatible with latex condoms. Besides, silicone sex lubricants have the property to remain slippery longer than other lubricants. Nevertheless, they’re prohibited to be used with silicone sex toys.

Uses of Sex Lubricants

Earlier such medical lubricant as Ky Jelly was used to simplify medical procedures, for instance, gynecological and rectal examinations. But modern sex lubricants are used to increase pleasure of sexual practices and lessen discomfort. The lubricants should be applied to the penis or sex toys being especially useful for women having vaginal dryness or contraction. Choose the right lubricant!
