Teeth whitening are a fairly cheap way removing the discolouration and stains from our teeth. Our teeth naturally loses its whiteness over time, this may be due to a number of things, such as the consumption of tea, coffee or red wine, or smoking, all of which lead to the discolorations and stains. For those who would like to enhance their smile, teeth whitening are a relatively simple process, which will lead to brighter whiter teeth once completed.

One of the first questions that people tend to ask is how white the treatment can make their teeth? There are many products out there, with many of them exaggerating about their affectability; in most cases you can expect your teeth to be at least four shades whiter, which is a very significant change for the vast majority of people. Usually, it’s the two front teeth that are the whitest, while the molars will be around two shades darker than them. However, the results that you get from the treatment will vary depending on your genetics and condition of your teeth.

The second question that is frequently asked is “what are the things that lead to discolouration on our teeth?” Chemical damage, aging are some factors which can contribute to the discolourations along with tea, medication, sodas, coffee and cigarettes. There also a few other factors which affects the appearance of our teeth such as disease and genetic. Some people are just born with teeth that are naturally whiter than those around them, and this trait can be passed on to their children. The sole purpose of teeth whitening is to removing the stains and discolorations on our teeth.

There are so many methods and techniques available that you can use to achieve this objective, such as the chemical whitening, professional dental procedures, laser whitening, abrasive whitening and home based teeth whitening kits. The professional whitening procedures are carried out by a dentist in a clinic and may be finished off by you at home, in the form of a mouth tray. The home based whitening kits which use mouth trays is very common today, making this procedure far more convenient for the patient as he or she can carry out the treatment while at home, at a reduced price.

In such situations, a whitening mouth tray which as bleaching agents in it is worn in the patients mouth overnight while he or she sleeps, or it may be worn for a couple of hours during the day. If you suffer from sensitive teeth, then wearing the mouth guard for a shorter period of time will lessen the chances of any adverse side effects.
