Contrary to the opinion that seems to be held by many, it’s possible for a beautiful wedding to be achieved without having to spend heaps of money. I of all people should know, because I was able to plan a dream wedding for just under $2,000 and would like to share with you some insights that you can use to help you plan that wedding that you’ve always dreamed about on a shoestring budget.

When it comes to planning a wedding, the first thing that you should understand is that the budget forms its backbone. That is the main reason why it’s referred to as wedding planning on a budget. Before the planning process starts, it’s advisable that you sit down with your partner and work out exactly how much money you can afford to spend on the day. You should consider the kind of help that your parents will be able to provide for you and also the amount of money that you’ve been able to save up over the years. The amount of money that both of you feel comfortable spending on the wedding is your agreed upon budget. Once the amount of money has been forged in stone; it’s now time for you to set your minds on exactly how you intend to achieve this wedding of yours without going above your budget limit.

You and your partner should have a vision developed on exactly what you would like your wedding to look like, and then write it down. You two should ask yourselves these important questions: Which aspects of your wedding do you deem the most important? Which aspects of your wedding are most important? Be confident about styling your wedding in such a way that it reflects the individual personality of both you and your partner. Those personal touches are not only capable of adding meaning, but are also capable of making the moment a more memorable one. At this specific point, you should have two goals clearly defined: 1) A budget which has a limit edged in stone. 2) A summary of how you intend the wedding to be.

Make sure that these written goals are tucked away in a prominent location in your folder for wedding planning and consistently refer to them throughout the planning process.

Now it’s time for you to put everything into practice to save those much needed dollars. The vast majority of brides will spend a considerable amount of time and energy getting their wedding services and products discounted. This is vital to successfully planning a wedding on a small budget. However, it’s likely that these discounted products and services will not be enough for you to create that dream wedding on the kind of budget your have earmarked. In addition to the services and products at discounted prices, you should find strategies that you can use to get products and services for free.
