When I first started setting up shop for an online business, I was an ignoramus trying to figure out the difference between a wholesale dropshipper and a regular dropshipper. I have made quite a number of business mistakes as I went along, expecting the regular dropshippers to do transactions that were meant to be expected from wholesale dropshippers. We would have been spared from a lot of miscommunication, longer time to finalize an order, waiting time for the customer, had I taken enough time to work on researching about the difference first. I would have taken more time too in locating the right suppliers for my business. Now that I know better, thanks to resources that I can easily access via my membership on SaleHoo, I can directly confirm with the suppliers first if they are wholesale dropshippers or regular dropshippers.
I was expecting the profit that was promised from articles that I read about. That dropshippers will readily offer the best wholesale prices. But I did not get the best wholesale deals. Instead, I was offered a discount for a small quantity purchase. I was unknowingly dealing with a regular dropshipper and not with a wholesale dropshipper. I lost thousands of dollars I could have pocketed from wholesale discounts just because of this simple but grave mistake.
Wholesale dropshippers give you the benefits of dropshipping at the bonus of being able to buy in bulk. On the other hand, regular dropshippers offer you the benefits of dropshipping at the cost of selling you small amount of items from them. This is where confusion comes in if you were unable to differentiate them onset. Because you will set unrealistic expectations from the regular dropshippers to offer you discounts on bulk purchases they will never be able to give. It helps if you will ask directly and politely. Remember that you can earn your profit two way with a wholesale dropshipper. You earn from the difference between the price they bought their products with from the manufacturer and the wholesale price you were offered.
Wholesale dropshippers usually put on a very minimal mark up of five percent or ten percent on the products you are buying from them, this is usually to shoulder the handling costs for shipping. This still gives you enough room for a significant profit.
You may just be frustrated with the regular dropshippers, expecting them to allow you to buy in bulk and giving you bigger discounts but it is impossible for them to agree with this kind of a deal. Realistically, they do not have room for profit since they are just acting as a middleman for you. Now you do not have to learn your lessons the hard way. Open your eyes and observe first hand lessons the other sellers have learned and spare your business from extra costs.
