Often they are aware of the latest hot products and trends in the marketplace. Always be sure to ask if what they are seeing in the market. Specifically ask about new products with outstanding sales. While a few of these folks will take this as an open door for a huge unwarranted sale, most will quickly learn that they need to direct you to the right items, or lose your business.
Remember that your buying mistakes cost you sales. In fact you really lose two ways. First you don't get the sale that would have happened had the desired product been in stock. Second, you have the money that should go towards the purchase of much needed products tied up in products that are less desired by your shoppers.
The success of your dollar store business depends on customer purchases. Be sure that you always have the products that your customers want and need in-stock and available. You and your shoppers will be happy you did!
