Earlier people with special needs or disabilities or just elderly people and even those who have some specific medical diseases didn’t have any opportunity to get dressed except for wearing shapeless clothes or gigantic-sized hospital gowns which just hung on them like on the rocks. But nowadays, those people have a chance to try the so called adaptive clothing. Adaptive clothing is specially made for such people with some illnesses, special needs or disabilities who need help while getting dressed. As such people would have problems with different parts of their bodies, it’s rather difficult to find that kind of adaptive clothes which would be not just fashionable and comfortable but suit them perfectly. Special clothing’s manufacturer companies though have created special clothing for people with special needs. Adaptive clothing is not difficult to put on and take off. At the same time they are very stylish and look like normal high-style clothing.

Adaptive clothes have different designs and styles for both men and women. Besides casual and standard clothing, there is a great variety of such clothes as swimwear and sleepwear all of which suit an individual’s needs. Nowadays, there are a lot of producers of adaptive clothing offering various designs so people have a wide choice of elderly clothing as well.

In order to offer high availability adaptive clothes are created with special features some of which include:

- Zippers have special pull fixtures.
- Pants have zippers on sides to simplify movement while putting them on.
- Using Velcro instead of buttons
- There are Velcro shoes instead of shoes with shoelaces.
- People who have problems with raising their arms are offered open back shirts or blouses which are designed with Velcro back opening and have a fashionable button look in the front.
- Incontinent people are offered seat-less lowers.
- Slippers with adjustable width are specially made for people with swollen feet or ankles.

Adaptive clothing may be used not only by disabled people but also by people who have limited mobility or constrained physical movements. It’s highly easier to use a back open dress than widely used front open ones. Using such clothes will save much time and nerves and what is even more important - they won’t disturb someone else for getting dressed. Besides, elderly people will appreciate this type of dressing as well. Senior apparel style of clothing is created for such people to offer them more comfort and easiness while dressing.

Contemporary producers of adaptive clothing also offer Velcro closure shoes. Shoelaces undoubtedly are very difficult to use for seniors and for people having some illnesses. The Velcro shoes have many advantages above traditional shoes as many people have difficulty with their hands and people suffering from Parkinson can hardly hold things and tie laces. So, such people will appreciate Velcro closure shoes.

As you can see, there are many advantages of adaptive clothing. People having problems with getting dresses may ask for adaptive clothes!
