If you have a right pillow under your head at night you will feel in the best way during the day. Everybody knows that a person needs to have a healthy sleep in order to be in a good mood and health. But few of us know how to choose the correct type of a pillow.

Well, each pillow type has its advantages and disadvantages; that is why you should consider your own requirements and needs while choosing a pillow.

A down pillow is one of the types of pillow used by many people nowadays. Down pillows are filled with goose down. The latter is the soft material located under the feathers of a goose providing a comfortable and soft feeling to people sleeping on such a pillow. Down pillows are rather expensive, however they don’t provide enough support for the neck of some people.

Due to geese people have also discovered another type of pillows which are filled with their feathers. A feather pillow is rather nice, but it’s firmer than a down one. Feather pillows may last for a few years if they are correctly cared for. Such pillows should not be washed in a washing machine as the filling will clump and the pillow will be uncomfortable for the further usage.

Foam pillows are another option for you, especially if you have problems with your neck or back after sleeping. Today many doctors offer their patients to sleep on foam pillows. Sleeping on a foam pillow a person’s head is better supported than by a down or feather pillow. But foam pillows are rather firm.

A pillow with a cotton filling is another kind. Such pillows are usually flatter than the other pillows, but they don't hold their shape and take the form of your head. Nowadays, cotton pillows are a choice of many people, as they confess their body rests better in its natural position with their help. If you prefer to sleep on this type of pillows it’s better to change it instead of washing it. Cotton pillows become too flat with the weight of the body after some time. As a result, a pillow becomes water soaked when washed that makes a breeding ground for mold.

Cotton pillows are rather cheap and changing them will avoid many health problems resulting from inhaling mold.

While choosing a pillow the material that it’s filled with is not the only thing you need to consider. Its size is very important too. Pillows may have different sizes and most of people choose a pillow according to the size of their mattress. People having the great-size bed usually choose a large pillow. The same concerns small beds and small pillows.

The thickness of the pillow is also important. It mostly depends on people’s sleeping habits. A person sleeping on the side needs a thicker pillow while this one sleeping on one’s back will like thinner pillows.
