1. "I can not quiet my mind." I think this is often the first big hurdle in meditating to overcome. 1st, try guided meditation rather than making an attempt to pick meditation up on your own within the silence. This offers you one thing to guide you out of your incessantly thinking mind. Don't worry, as your follow develops you'll be in a position to meditate in silence and realize peace, however first, you have got to open the door to this quiet place within gently. Berating yourself for "not getting it" fast enough just hurts you and extremely plays to your ego. Think of it like several hobby or sport you choose up - it takes time and steering to become comfortable.
2. "I don't have time." Almost all my shoppers in my private follow wish to feature meditation to their life, however time could be a massive stumbling block. Even for myself I sometimes run into this problem. ,That's partly why I created my Everyday Meditation series - daily ten-minute meditations. I am not of the school you have to meditate for twenty minutes or a lot of a day. I am a Mom wife and business owner...I do not live in an Ashram where I have hours to devote to a meditation observe - I live in the very real, busy world. Thus if you simply have five minutes right now, take it - spend 5 minutes concentrating on your breath. I promise you will feel better and surprisingly, the 5 minutes will stretch longer as you are feeling a lot of snug and relaxed with your practice.
3. "I fall asleep." During workshops this usually comes up as a result of my purchasers believe they fall asleep throughout the meditations. Upon 'waking' from the meditation they do not bear in mind something, except they feel much better. This "falling sleep" response is when your aware mind goes to sleep as a result of it's not interested in what is going on. For example, perhaps you've got gotten within the car to travel to the store and upon arrival you don't keep in mind driving there? Well, you have probably driven there dozens of times and currently it's become automatic, your mind is free to consider alternative things instead of directions. Another reason for this "falling asleep" response is the subject of the meditation could be too upsetting to appear at directly and once more, your mind is protecting you by falling asleep and permitting the healing to 1st begin in your sub-conscious. I usually intentionally go to sleep to meditations knowing its healing affects on my sub-conscious. If you're feeling higher when the meditation, except it, don't fight it. Again, as you heal your sub-conscious, this 'falling asleep' response can simply slip away and you will become additional gift and 'awake' throughout your meditation.
4. "I don't like the imagery within the guided meditation." While I used to be teaching a meditation workshop a student complained that she hated meadows and couldn't fall into the meditation because of this. The meditation we tend to had just finished was set in an exceedingly meadow and connecting to safety. She kept saying how barren and dead meadows are...This was surprising to me because meadows are magical places for me filled with life. I asked her to look at her language and her life. The meadow she created was in her own mind - she made it barren, without life. The meditation was in fact informing her of this barren view point. I advised she herself place life into the image within the meditation - adding trees, flowers, birds, etc. This is often really an instantaneous chance to heal. This is a present of meditation to softly heal yourself in your own time.
5. "I recognize I am not doing it right. I must be missing something." Maybe you've read you'll be closer to God or manifest things through meditation, however you're not feeling this. Relax. We have a tendency to live in an exceedingly society that loves to check - restrain yourself. Raise yourself this, do you feel higher - maybe calmer after meditating? Yes, you're doing it right. Let this practice unfold in your life gently. I promise magic will happen.
I hope this helps you overcome some blocks in your own meditation practice. If you've got any any queries or concerns, please contact me. I am here to help. So be it.
