Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, now comes the work. It may have been suggested to you to hire a wedding consultant which can be a good thing or a bad thing dependent upon whether you really need one or not. If you are really busy or have a fulltime job it may be necessary but the other thing to consider is that it is also an added expense that should be discussed by the parties that are paying for it.

On the plus side, a wedding consultant will take on the majority of the drudgery of the wedding planning process. It will still be your decision when it comes to deciding colors, styles, dates, etc. They are basically there to do the things you don't want to do and to give you advice; it's up to you to decide if you want to take it.

They will be the one that gets tough with vendors so you don't have to get upset. If you use a consultant that has a lot of experience she will have a good relationship with most of them anyway. When you use a popular wedding consultant the vendors will bed over backwards not to upset them because they know it can cost them a ton of business.

Since they have a lot of experience with weddings they will be able to answer any questions you might have and advise you about things like where to get the best deals on food, invitations, gifts, flowers, ad where to find the best dress! They will know the best locations for your wedding and reception as well as the best times of the year. They can also help you with planning your budget.

A good consultant will walk you through the planning process from the ceremony to the honeymoon. You will not have to worry will mailings, setting appointments, placing the food orders or any of the more time consuming stressful aspects. Your consultant will handle all of that and more.

You can see the many benefits to hiring a consultant but there are also reasons not to hire a consultant. It's your choice. Here's why. You may be a detail oriented person and have had the fine details in your head for some time. In this case your will want to be more in control of the planning. If you plan on a small ceremony at your home or another free space you won't need someone to coordinate for you. You may not like a traditional wedding style or anything resembling it so your needs won't be easy to please and so doing it yourself would be much better.
