But a new survey suggests that most people place the perfect age for plastic surgery at 52 years, 41 weeks and four days.

Superdrug, a London-based beauty and health products retailer, conducted the survey of 3,000 women aged 40 to 65 and found respondents to be increasingly image conscious as they got older. The average age at which they placed the ideal time for plastic surgery, Jacksonville's Dr. Phillip Garcia says, is not at all surprising. He noted that the weakened economy has more middle-age and older workers worrying for their jobs. The result is that many are taking very deliberate measures to improve and maintain a youthful, energized look.

"A significant number of our patients are middle age or older workers who are putting off retirement either because they still feel young and want to continue working, or because financially they can't afford to give up regular fulltime pay," Dr. Garcia says. "Either way, many have younger colleagues and competitors nipping at their heels, so the last thing they want is to appear tired or too old to effectively do their jobs."

The survey also showed that women who would consider plastic surgery are increasingly candid about it. A fifth of the survey respondents said they would get a facelift if money were no object; 25 percent were up for an eye lift; and 29 percent would go for a tummy tuck. Of those who weren't interested in a nip/tuck of any sort a full 29 percent said Botox or chemical peels were an option.

Other interesting tidbits: 62 percent of respondents believe that women are more likely to be judged on their appearance than they have been in previous generations; and, if given the choice, nearly 29 percent would rather look 20 years younger than be a millionaire.

If you're considering plastic surgery, Jacksonville's Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery can tailor a treatment plan that's perfect for your age and your goals. Call 904-247-8522 to schedule a consultation.
