Your wedding is the most important day of your life. Naturally you want to share it with people who are closest to you. Friends and family are chosen to be in the bridal party as bridesmaids, flower girl, best man and ushers are all the people you love dearly and want to share your special day. Giving them wedding favors is a good way to show that you appreciate them attending your wedding.

The tradition of giving wedding favors started with European Aristocrat centuries ago. It was predominantly done by French and Italians who started the tradition by giving Bonbonniers; a box made of different types of materials. The box was usually filled with candies. This type of gift was also given at birthday parties and at celebrations. These boxes were usually made of porcelain, but could also be made of metals, precious stones or crystals.

Centuries ago, there were not many choices besides candy to give as wedding favors. Today there is a plethora of choices you can give. It is great to stick with traditions, however if you want to give modern gifts as wedding favors, there are so many choices, you will not know where to start.

A trend that has grown over the years is state lotteries. With the creation of the scratch ticket, it has become on extremely popular gift to give as a wedding favor. They are inexpensive and offer your guest the chance to win a million dollars. You can either present them in an elegant envelope or design something that is appropriate.

It may appear strange, but some people actually give seeds to grow trees and plants as wedding favors. This is done in part to symbolize the beginning of a marriage and the growth of family. It is a remembrance of the wedding day. If any of your guests do not have a yard to plant in, you can suggest that they use a small pot or window box.

Another wonderful idea for a wedding favor is to fill a mug with candies or cookies, along with hot chocolate or flavored coffee and personalize it with the bride and grooms wedding date or even their picture. You will use the mug everyday, reminding you of the special occasion. There are many companies that will offer a bulk rate or a special discount for wedding parties.

There is not a perfect wedding favor. Every one is a unique gift from the hearts of the bride and groom to show their appreciation that you attended their wedding.

Summary:

Wedding favors are an excellent way to express your love and appreciation to your wedding guests. There are so many different ideas for these favors that it can be overwhelming. Choosing an idea that is unique will have your guests remembering your wedding for years to come.
